Visa Expands Stablecoin Payouts Through zerohash Partnership
Visa is expanding stablecoin payouts and account funding through a new partnership with digital asset infrastructure provider zerohash. Eligible Visa Direct clients will be able to fund accounts and send payouts in stablecoins using zerohash’s regulatory and blockchain systems.
The integration builds on Visa’s earlier stablecoin payout and prefunding pilots. Visa says Visa Direct can reach more than 18 billion eligible cards, bank accounts and digital wallets across over 195 countries and territories.
Visa Direct Adds Stablecoin Funding and Payouts
Businesses using the service will be able to prefund Visa Direct accounts with stablecoins instead of relying only on traditional currency. They can also send stablecoin payouts directly to recipients through supported digital wallets.
The system is intended to support cross-border payouts outside normal banking hours through supported stablecoin networks and wallets. Recipients can receive digital dollars through supported wallets and then hold, spend or convert them using the services available through those wallets. Visa Global Head of Product Mark Nelsen said:
“Stablecoins are creating new opportunities to make money movement faster and more flexible.”
zerohash Provides Blockchain and Compliance Tools
Zerohash will provide the technology needed to manage stablecoin wallets, blockchain transfers, liquidity and regulatory checks. Its infrastructure supports dozens of blockchains and stablecoins, although the companies have not published a complete list of assets available through the Visa Direct integration.
The company operates regulated entities across several markets and provides crypto and stablecoin infrastructure to banks, brokerages, fintech platforms and payment companies. zerohash works behind the scenes, allowing partners to add digital asset services without building their own blockchain systems.
Visa Builds a Wider Stablecoin Network
Visa first announced stablecoin prefunding for Visa Direct in September 2025 and later introduced a pilot allowing businesses to send USDC payouts directly to recipients. The company said wider access was planned for 2026 as demand and regulatory frameworks developed.
The zerohash partnership follows Visa’s July 2026 launch of the Visa Stablecoin Platform, which gives selected institutions tools for wallets, stablecoin transfers and treasury operations. Together, the products expand stablecoin use across Visa’s settlement, funding, and payout services.
Visa has not announced which clients will receive access first. Availability will depend on eligibility, local regulations and the stablecoins supported in each market.
