Samsung Electronics plans to add stablecoin accounts, cross-border transfers and payment features to Samsung Wallet this year. The rollout will begin in a limited number of countries, according to a written response Samsung on August 8.

The expansion follows Samsung’s earlier announcement that it would bring native stablecoin features to Galaxy devices. Samsung has not yet named the first countries, supported stablecoins or blockchain networks for the new services.

Stablecoin Features Will Start in Select Markets

Samsung plans to let eligible users access stablecoin accounts through Samsung Wallet and use them for transfers and payments. Cross-border transfers and in-store payment functions are also part of the planned rollout, although availability will depend on local regulations and market conditions.

The company has not announced a specific launch date beyond saying the features will begin arriving in 2026. Details about transaction fees, custody arrangements and whether Samsung will work with external stablecoin issuers have also not been disclosed.

Samsung Expands Wallet Beyond Cards

Samsung outlined its wider stablecoin plans at Galaxy Unpacked 2026. The company said stablecoin functionality could eventually be available across more than 800 million Galaxy smartphones. CoinDesk reported that Samsung Wallet is currently available in 61 countries. Samsung product manager Lee Dinham said:

“This will make Samsung one of the first major mobile phone brands to offer native stablecoins on smartphones, enabling fast and reliable transfer of digital value.”

Samsung said it wants Wallet to combine payments, rewards and digital assets within the same service. Samsung Wallet already has links to cryptocurrency services. In the U.S., Samsung expanded its Coinbase partnership in 2025, allowing eligible users to access Coinbase through Wallet and purchase crypto using Samsung Pay.

Stablecoins Join Samsung’s Wider Payments Push

The stablecoin rollout comes as Samsung expands its financial services business. In July 2026, the company launched the Samsung Galaxy Card with Barclays in the U.S., allowing customers to manage the card and rewards through Samsung Wallet.

Samsung has not yet explained whether the stablecoin features will connect with the Galaxy Card, Coinbase integration or other existing Samsung Wallet services.
