ESMA Confirms Bridge’s June 29 Luxembourg MiCA Approval

Stripe-owned stablecoin infrastructure provider Bridge appears in the European Securities and Markets Authority’s latest MiCA register following its June 29 authorization by Luxembourg’s financial regulator.

Bridge Building S.A. holds both a Crypto-Asset Service Provider license under MiCA and a separate Electronic Money Institution license from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. ESMA’s register was most recently refreshed on August 5, although Bridge’s authorization itself is not new.

ESMA Lists Five MiCA Services for Bridge

ESMA’s current register lists Bridge for five crypto-asset services: custody and administration, exchanging crypto-assets for funds, crypto-to-crypto exchange, execution of customer orders and crypto-asset transfers.

The record identifies Luxembourg as Bridge’s home state and shows passporting notifications across the other European Economic Area jurisdictions. That framework allows Bridge to provide its authorized services in notified markets without obtaining a separate MiCA license in each country.

Bridge’s own regulatory disclosure lists CASP license N00000012, granted June 29. Its published license page currently names four covered services and omits execution of orders, creating a discrepancy with ESMA’s five-service entry.

Luxembourg EMI License Adds Euro Payments and E-Money Services

Bridge also received EMI license W00000024 from the CSSF on June 29. The authorization covers issuance, distribution, and redemption of electronic money and execution of credit transfers.

Holding the CASP and EMI permissions through Bridge Building S.A. allows the company to combine regulated crypto-asset services with euro-denominated payment infrastructure from one Luxembourg entity.

Bridge has said the European setup supports products including named IBANs and custom euro-backed stablecoins. Businesses can also use its infrastructure for stablecoin-to-euro conversions and cross-border payments.

Stripe Completed Its Bridge Acquisition in February 2025

Stripe completed its acquisition of Bridge on February 4, 2025, expanding the payments company into stablecoin infrastructure.

Bridge provides APIs for businesses to move between fiat currencies and stablecoins, create virtual accounts and integrate stablecoin issuance without building the underlying payment and blockchain infrastructure themselves.

The Luxembourg licenses give Bridge Building S.A. a regulated base for those services across notified EEA markets. The latest ESMA register confirms the authorization remains active as the EU operates fully under MiCA’s post-transition licensing framework.
