Ripple Launches RLUSD Minting Tools as Monthly Transfer Volume Falls 25%
Key Takeaways
- Ripple launched Ripple Mint to help institutions mint, redeem, bridge and manage RLUSD.
- RLUSD was added to Notabene Flow as Ripple targets compliance focused institutional payments.
- RLUSD transfer volume fell 25.26% to $10.95B even as holders and active addresses rose.
Ripple launched Ripple Mint for institutions and added Ripple USD (RLUSD) to Notabene Flow, the company’s compliance-focused stablecoin payments platform, as RLUSD’s monthly transfer volume fell 25.26% to $10.95 billion.
The two moves are aimed at making RLUSD easier to issue, manage, and move through institutional payment workflows.
Ripple Mint Automates RLUSD Issuance and Redemption
Ripple Mint gives institutions a single platform to mint, redeem, bridge, and manage RLUSD. Customers can use a web interface or connect through APIs and webhook notifications, letting them track the full transaction lifecycle from fiat receipt to on-chain settlement.
Ripple said the platform is available to existing RLUSD customers. The product is designed to reduce manual operational work for exchanges, market makers, fintechs, and other institutional users that need direct access to stablecoin issuance and redemption.
RLUSD Multichain Expansion Adds More Payment and DeFi Routes
Ripple said RLUSD’s multichain expansion is now anchored by the XRP Ledger (XRPL) EVM Sidechain, alongside Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain. RLUSD was initially issued on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum for cross-chain liquidity and institutional financial use cases.
The additional networks give RLUSD more places to circulate across exchanges, decentralized finance protocols, payment applications, and on-chain financial infrastructure. The expansion is part of Ripple’s push to make the stablecoin more useful outside its original two-chain setup.
The launches address two related challenges. RLUSD requires more places to move, and it needs more institutional use in payment and settlement flows.
Notabene Deal Adds a Compliance-Focused Payment Channel
Notabene announced a strategic investment from Ripple on July 23. As part of the agreement, the companies will integrate RLUSD into Notabene Flow, the firm’s business-to-business stablecoin payments platform.
Notabene said its network spans more than 2,300 connected institutions, 100+ jurisdictions, and 280+ customers. The company said the network has facilitated more than $2 trillion in annualized transaction volume, giving RLUSD a new compliance-focused channel for institutional payments.
Holder Growth Rises While Transfer Volume Falls
RWA.xyz data shows RLUSD had a market capitalization of $1.52 billion, down 4.86% from 30 days earlier. The same dashboard showed 60,746 holders, up 6.07%, and 11,225 monthly active addresses, up 70.15%.
Transfer activity moved in the opposite direction. Monthly transfer volume fell 25.26% to $10.95 billion, while monthly transfer count reached 1,259,773.
The split shows the current challenge for RLUSD. More wallets are holding or interacting with the stablecoin, but less dollar value is moving across it than one month earlier.
Ripple Still Has to Turn RLUSD Infrastructure Into Transfer Growth
RLUSD’s supply remains split mainly between the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. RWA.xyz showed 876.9 million RLUSD on the XRP Ledger and 642.6 million on Ethereum, with total token supply near 1.52 billion.
Ripple Mint and Notabene address the same problem from different sides. One makes RLUSD easier to create and manage, while the other gives it a route into regulated payment workflows.
