Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, the founders of cryptocurrency trade exchange Gemini, have released a cryptocurrency trading application for mobile despite the rough state of the market.

The app was introduced in an official blog post published by Tyler. It states that the application offers new features such as:

  • Buy and sell cryptocurrency
  • View market prices and your portfolio value
  • Set price alerts
  • Set recurring buy orders
  • Buy The Cryptoverse™ (i.e., basket orders)
  • Send and receive cryptocurrency

Bloomberg investigated the Winklevoss twins approach to the market in light of the new app in an interview following the launch. The Gemini founders took an optimistic attitude, saying that the cryptocurrency
winter” gives the company “time to build internally, and refine and kind of catch [their] breath.”

Cameron continued to say:

“A lot of our decisions have perhaps given off a perception that we’re more institutional-based. The reality of the situation is that we have a diverse customer base. And the retail story is just beginning.”

His twin also commented:

We’re in this for the long haul. We think it’s a space that’s here to stay.

The twins expressed excitement for 2019, explaining that one of the goals in the new year is to expand into the Asian cryptocurrency market, and will be competing with industry giants such as Binance. At present, Gemini is New York-based and has offices in the majority of the US states, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and the U.K.
